Munich Tourist Attractions

Full of traditional Bavarian character, the city of Munich, known locally as München, is the state capital and the country's third-biggest city. Central Munich is dominated by a number of historic buildings, including the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Blessed Lady), and the eye-catching steeple of the Town Hall.

Take a stroll though the English Garden. In this largest inner-city park in the world, you can lay down in the grass, enjoy a nice view of the city from the Monopteros, have some typical Bavarian food in the beergarden at the Chinese tower or watch the surfers at the famous inner-city surfspot “Eisbach”.
A walk across the Victuals Market, Munich's most popular open air market, can be a sensual revelation. Try the traditional Bavarian Schweinshax'n.
Lose yourself in the Deutsches Museum or in any of a number of the other museums and galleries and there are countless beautiful churches and other buildings to explore.
Visit the Hofbräuhaus, the world's most famous beer hall and enjoy traditional music, tasty Bavarian dishes and, of course: A "Maß" of Beer! Any German will tell you that German beer is the best in the world. Beer is so special to Bavarians, that it isn't even classified as alcohol, it's a 'health drink' and rather amazingly, next to the soft drink machines in factories you can find beer vending machines.
